I don't really know where to begin with the pictures. So far, I have 112 pics of what it looked like when we bought it, and the progress we've made. And as we're not fully done in any of the rooms, I can't show any "finalized" before and afters yet. I'm putting that in quotes because people say you're never finished with your house until you're ready to sell it. Sigh.
However, that's life, and updating a 1950 house does not come with a before and after button. Nope. It's not a 20 minute HGTV episode either. It takes hours and hours and days and days and decisions and money and messes and deciding whoever made wallpaper was evil and whoever decided plaster was a good idea wasn't too smart either, and then more money than your contractor said. And cracks in your fingers because your heat will stop working because you left the heat off and one of the workers turned it on overnight to 85* and it stopped working. So it'll be 40* in your house and you will wash your paintbrushes in warm water and your finger will crack and it won't heal for a long time.
I digress.
The point is, we knew it was work and we're glad we're doing it, but it was so overwhelming to even begin, because where do you begin with this: ...?
(the kitchen from the dining room)
(two-three sponge layered red living room)
(green and yellow striped dining room, also with a gold sponge effect. a few decades old!)
(master bathroom...after I cleaned it)
(hallway bathroom)
(hallway connecting the master bath and bedroom)
So that's a peek of what was. And here's a peek of the progress,
same angle of looking in the master from the hallway.
Phew! And that's a lot more work than it looks, as we discovered two layers of wallpaper under the border, and ripping it up made holes in the wall, etc etc. More on that later!
